It has been raining every since Friday. Not that ordinary rain. I could handle that, but almost a monsoon type torrential rain along with heavy thunderstorms. I've never lived through a hurricane, but this scared me enough. My grandmother asked me the other day if I could close the windows to her upstairs window during the heavy rain. The rain was pouring through the screen and landed about four feet inside her room! The rain wasn't coming down in drops. It was coming down in lines.

There are floods in Downtown DC for goodness sake! I've never heard of it flooding before there. Maybe it's a good thing that I'm unemployed because I heard that the daily commute in general has been held up.

According to the news, these daily thunderstorms are going to keep coming due to a convergence of three storms. The last time I heard of something like that was in the movie The Day After Tomorrow which succeeded in making me paranoid about global warming. (Hey, I've been recycling and picking up trash every since seeing Captain Planet.)

I might try my hand at composing poetry because I never really tried.

Go Ghana! I like to cheer on the underdogs especially when it comes to World Cup Soccer. In futbol norteamericano, I like to cheer on my hometeam only. Maybe that's because they've been the underdogs since the mid to late nineties. Brazil is probably going to win, but I like Ghana's moxie right now.
